Crimson Moon: Enter a Gothic War Against the Forces of Hell

Crimson Moon: A Gothic Action RPG Bathed in Blood
Gameplay

Crimson Moon is a dark fantasy action RPG that combines brutal melee combat, gothic horror, supernatural powers, and replayable missions into a blood-soaked adventure. Players take the role of a Nephilim, a human-angel hybrid fighting to reclaim the fallen city of Gildenarch from demonic forces, vampires, undead creatures, and grotesque manifestations of Hellgrowth. Serving the Order of the Crimson Moon, the protagonist must uncover the secrets behind the city's destruction while confronting increasingly dangerous supernatural enemies.

A Nephilim Rises to Reclaim the Fallen City

Combat sits at the core of Crimson Moon, combining fast melee action with supernatural abilities and deliberate timing. Players can switch between different weapons, dodge attacks, parry enemies, perform brutal finishers, and unleash powerful angelic skills. Its combat has clear similarities to Dark Souls and Thymesia, particularly in its emphasis on timing, positioning, and learning enemy patterns.

However, Crimson Moon adds a more aggressive gothic flair through its executions and angelic powers, giving encounters a faster and more visually dramatic identity. Equipment, abilities, trinkets, and temporary powers also allow players to create different builds and adapt their approach to each hunt.

Slay Demons, Build Your Power, and Fight Together in Co-Op

Rather than following a purely linear campaign, Crimson Moon is built around replayable hunts launched from the War Table. Players enter corrupted areas of Gildenarch, complete objectives, battle supernatural enemies, collect rewards, and return to their hub to improve their character. This mission-based structure creates some similarities to Vermintide and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, where replayable missions, enemy encounters, character progression, and build experimentation form the foundation of the experience. The ability to select an Angel companion adds another layer of customization, allowing players to adjust their strategy before each hunt.

Crimson Moon can be played solo or through two-player online co-op, giving its combat a more cooperative dimension. While Dark Souls and Thymesia provide useful comparisons for its melee-focused combat, and Vermintide and Darktide offer parallels for its replayable mission structure, Crimson Moon attempts to combine these influences with its own gothic setting and angelic mythology. The result is a dark action RPG that blends Souls-like combat, co-op hunting, character builds, and replayable progression, giving players plenty of reasons to return to Gildenarch for another bloody hunt.
