Locked & Loaded brings a new level of immersion to Bodycam

Bodycam is taking FPS realism to another level
Updates & Patches

Bodycam has always sold itself on one simple idea: what if a multiplayer shooter looked and felt uncomfortably close to real footage? With its new “Road to Locked and Loaded” Dev Diary, Reissad Studio is showing that it wants to push that idea much further than impressive graphics alone.

The first dev diary focuses heavily on the systems being rebuilt for the upcoming Locked & Loaded update, especially animations, weapon handling and loadouts. Instead of simply adding another map or a few guns, the developers are working on the small details that make every firefight feel more believable.

One of the coolest examples is the new animation system. Reloads will no longer look exactly the same every time. Depending on the situation, your operator can move differently, adjust their grip, react to nearby explosions or perform actions with more urgency when under pressure. Procedural positioning should also make weapons and hands feel less robotic and more naturally connected to the player’s movement.

Bodycam wants every gunfight to feel uncomfortably real

This obsession with realism is exactly why some players jokingly describe Bodycam as a “PTSD simulator.” Obviously, that is not meant literally, but it does sum up how intense the game can feel. Between the bodycam perspective, violent camera movement, realistic lighting, brutal sound design and sudden gunfights, matches can sometimes look less like a traditional FPS and more like footage you probably should not be watching.

That is also what separates Bodycam from something like Call of Duty. Call of Duty is built around fast action, clear feedback and cinematic spectacle. Bodycam deliberately makes things less comfortable. Visibility can be poor, movement feels heavier, and firing a weapon is supposed to feel dangerous rather than simply satisfying. Both approaches can be fun, but Bodycam is clearly chasing something much closer to simulation.

Locked & Loaded is also expanding the actual gameplay behind that realism. A new loadout and weapon customization system will allow players to modify their weapons with a huge range of attachments, while gadgets such as FPV drones and reconnaissance vehicles should add more tactical options during matches.

There is even a new Tactical Tablet, letting players manage loadouts, settings, progression and other systems through an in-game device rather than constantly jumping into traditional menus. It is another small feature that helps maintain the feeling that you are controlling an actual operator instead of navigating a standard shooter interface.

The upcoming update is therefore looking like much more than a collection of new toys. Reissad Studio appears to be rebuilding large parts of Bodycam around one goal: making every movement, reload, sound and encounter feel as believable as possible.

Bodycam’in yeni Locked & Loaded güncellemesi bence oyunun en güçlü tarafına, yani gerçekçilik hissine odaklanıyor.
