Angels Fall First Launches Version 1.0 After a Decade

Angels Fall First concludes 10 years of Early Access with version 1.0
Updates & Patches

After spending a decade in Steam Early Access, Angels Fall First has officially launched version 1.0. For many games, reaching 1.0 usually means introducing a wealth of new features or delivering a major gameplay overhaul. However, Angels Fall First takes a different approach. Rather than reinventing the experience, this milestone represents the culmination of a long development journey while serving as a heartfelt thank-you from Strangely Interactive to the community that has supported the project since its earliest days.

A development journey spanning more than a decade finally reaches its destination

According to the developers, when Angels Fall First entered Early Access ten years ago, their goal was to create the large-scale sci-fi shooter they had always wanted to play themselves. Throughout that time, the game steadily expanded and evolved, gradually introducing infantry combat, ground vehicles, and large-scale space battles featuring capital ships instead of saving the bulk of its content for the official launch.

The 1.0 announcement is also more of a tribute than a promotional message. The team expressed its gratitude to James Morris-King, whose work laid the foundation for the game's sci-fi universe, while also thanking the community for standing by the project throughout its lengthy development. They were equally candid in acknowledging that version 1.0 is not entirely bug-free and that several hotfixes will likely follow in the coming days. That honesty has been well received by many players, as it reflects that the purpose of version 1.0 is not to present a flawless product, but to mark the moment the developers finally fulfilled a promise that has been years in the making.

Version 1.0 still introduces a handful of new additions

Although version 1.0 is not a major content expansion, it does include several noteworthy additions. The most significant is Darsalaam, a new map set aboard a massive resort station still under construction, where USN forces launch an assault to secure the surrounding space and capture high-priority League personnel taking refuge within the station.

Joining the new battlefield are two game modes, Incursion and Territories, offering players additional ways to experience the large-scale combined-arms warfare that has long defined Angels Fall First. In addition, the developers confirmed that version 1.0 includes numerous stability improvements, map refinements, and bug fixes completed during the final weeks leading up to release.

Another notable decision is that Strangely Interactive chose not to increase the game's base price as it exited Early Access. According to the studio, the current price still reflects the value they believe Angels Fall First offers. To celebrate the milestone, the game is also available at a 10% discount for the first 10 days following the release of version 1.0.

All things considered, version 1.0 may not deliver a dramatic gameplay transformation, but it represents the most significant milestone in the history of Angels Fall First. After 10 years in Early Access and nearly two decades since development first began, the game has finally reached its full release. The developers also confirmed that a complete changelog, along with more details about the future of Angels Fall First, will be shared in the near future.

Pochi giochi restano così a lungo in accesso anticipato senza scomparire.
Few games stay in Early Access for this long without disappearing. Seeing Angels Fall First finally reach version 1.0 shows that the developers have followed through on their vision. This kind of perseverance is commendable, especially for an independent project that has developed over so many years.

Seeing Angels Fall First hit version 1.0 after ten years is honestly impressive. It’s rare for a project to stay alive this long, especially one built around large‑scale combined‑arms combat and community‑driven experimentation. The team’s persistence shows, and the game finally feels like the complete vision they were chasing. It’s a great example of how long‑term passion projects can still land strong in 2026.

Bought this one years and years ago, so that was quite an unexpected announcement. Great to see it finally reaching 1.0. Let's hope they don't take 10 years to release their next game now!

Large-scale battles have always been one of the game's defining features, and adding another map and new modes expands that formula without changing its identity. Building on the existing foundation makes sense for a project that has evolved over many years.

I'm discovering this game through this news, so I don't have an opinion on the quality of the project. However, finishing a development that began ten years ago is a great achievement. The community that has supported the game all these years must surely feel a certain pride seeing this 1.0 version finally arrive.

Not many indie games make it through such a long Early Access journey. Congratulations to the developers—I'm looking forward to seeing how the community grows after the 1.0 launch.
