Epic Games Store adds Alone With You as its newest free game giveaway

The Epic Games Store has refreshed its weekly giveaway, sending last week’s Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing offers back into the archives. Taking their place is Alone With You, a narrative-focused sci-fi adventure that you can claim and keep permanently.

Alone With You puts you in the role of an astronaut who has somehow survived the collapse of a terraforming colony. Unfortunately, your situation isn't exactly comfortable. The planet is falling apart, and you have less than a month to repair your escape pod and find a way off the doomed world.

Getting out alive isn't the only mystery you'll have to solve. With assistance from a troubled AI companion, you'll explore the remains of the abandoned colony, investigate facilities, scan your surroundings for clues and work through various puzzles. Along the way, you'll uncover the fate of more than two dozen colonists who once called the planet home.

Things take a different turn at night, when you'll meet four holographic companions. Spending time with these digital recreations allows you to learn about their personalities, experiences and lives before the colony fell apart. The adventure spans more than a dozen missions, with your decisions during conversations influencing how the story develops. There are multiple endings to discover, meaning your choices can lead to very different, often bittersweet conclusions.

Visually, Alone With You takes inspiration from the Sega CD era, using a 16-bit-inspired presentation that gives the sci-fi setting a distinctive retro appearance. Rather than focusing on combat, the game puts its emphasis firmly on exploration, conversations and gradually piecing together the mystery surrounding the abandoned colony.

That makes it a particularly interesting freebie for players who prefer story-driven adventures over action-heavy games. Its branching dialogue and multiple endings also provide a reason to return after completing the initial playthrough.

Alone With You is free to claim on the Epic Games Store until September 10. After that, the giveaway will rotate to the next pair of freebies, Luftrausers and Astral Ascent, which have already been announced as the upcoming offerings.
