After 15 months, 33 Immortals is ready for its full rebellion
After 15 months in Early Access, 33 Immortals has finally reached full release, and honestly, it still sounds a little ridiculous in the best way. This is a 33-player co-op roguelike where you play as damned souls refusing to accept God’s final judgment. Instead of quietly heading into the afterlife, you team up with dozens of other players and fight your way through massive runs full of enemies, bosses, upgrades, and complete chaos.
The main hook is right there in the number. Most co-op games are happy with four players. Some go a little bigger. 33 Immortals throws a small army into the same run and asks everyone to survive together. It is not a slow MMO raid where you spend half the night waiting for people to organize either. The idea is quick matchmaking, fast action, and roguelike runs where you jump in, fight, die, upgrade, and try again. Each attempt pushes you through dangerous zones inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, with weapons, relics, perks, and permanent progression giving you a reason to keep coming back.
Teamwork somehow survives the chaos
What makes the game interesting is how it tries to make that many players feel useful without turning the screen into total nonsense. You can revive allies, combine powers, use pings and emotes, and work through tougher encounters where teamwork actually matters. There is still plenty of button-mashing mayhem, but the game is not only about everyone hitting the same monster until it explodes.
The latest big update helped round out the full launch with Paradiso, the third and final world. This new area adds fresh chambers, angelic enemies, puzzle-like combat ideas, secret encounters, and a final fight against the Wrath of God. Thunder Lotus also added the Hooks of Gluttony before launch, giving players a more technical melee weapon built around parries, grappling, and risky close-range play.
The easiest comparison is probably Hades, but only if Hades got invaded by 32 other players and decided to become a raid game. 33 Immortals has that same “one more run” feeling, but the scale makes it feel like its own strange beast.
