11 Bit Studios announces Frostpunk 2

After the success of Frostpunk, it was easy to guess that 11 Bit Studios would be interested in coming up with some sequel. Although the post-apocalyptic setting of Frostpunk puts you in a very tough situation, it's still possible to keep alive the group of survivors that keeps your coal generator working to prevent everyone from getting chilled to the bones. Those who have achieved such a feat might wonder what's going to happen after that, and Frostpunk 2 seems to be the answer to such a question. 11 Bit Studios has announced the sequel to Frostpunk with a short video that describes quite a familiar situation for all those that played the first game.

The official press release about Frostpunk 2 leaves it very clear: the game will take place 30 years after the events in Frostpunk, and you will manage the development of a growing city in the aftermath of the cataclysm that froze the world. 

"You play as the leader of a resource-hungry metropolis where the expansion and search for new sources of power is an unavoidable reality. After the age of coal, conquering Frostland for the oil extraction industry is expected to be the new salvation of what's left of humanity. However, change does not come easily, and not everyone in this new multi-layered society will welcome this new direction."

Sacrifice is the key to everything in Frostpunk. It's impossible to keep everyone happy in extreme circumstances, and Frostpunk 2 will prove it to be true. The world is still suffering from the same icy climate as in the previous game, but the discovery of oil as a new energy source gives hope to the survivors. However, you may not be able to cope with the demands of your people as easily as you think. Tensions and conflicts will arise, and it will be only up to you how to handle them. Of course, dealing with those who disagree may become an issue, but we already said that Frostpunk 2 would also be about sacrifices.
