The Last of Us Part II is coming in June

After many months of delays, speculation about changes of platform, and more, The Last of Us Part II has an official release date. Quite a lot of players became fans of The Last of Us when the first game was launched. It follows the story of a group of survivors after a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus infects most of the population of the United States turning them into cannibalistic creatures. The huge success of the game made one of its characters, Ellie, a fan favorite, and it's her who will be the focus of the story in The Last of Us Part II. The new game takes place five years after the events in the previous one. Ellie has found a home among a community of survivors in Wyoming. Living under stress due to the constant fear of being infected has not put a dent on Ellie's resolve to survive, and when a violent incident puts an end to her peaceful life, she will embark herself on a perilous journey to claim justice.

The Last of Us Part II will treat players with a thrilling adventure full of action, but due to the current situation with the pandemic it's release has been threatened a few times during recent months. Yesterday, Hermen Hulst, Sony’s head of worldwide studios, confirmed the final release date for the game in a statement:

“As we begin to see an ease in the global distribution environment, I am pleased to confirm that The Last of Us Part II will arrive on June 19.” 

Unfortunately, despite Naughty Dog's effort to be as secretive as possible about The Last of Us Part II in order to avoid spoiling the story of a game in which the plot holds major significance, gameplay footage has been recently leaked. Even though we are not reproducing it here for the peace of mind of our readers, Naughty Dog has been forced to comment on the matter on Twitter. Beware of reading the replies to the developers' tweet too if you want to avoid spoilers.

Whether you are interested in these spoilers or not, the good news is that we finally have a release date for The Last of Us Part II, which is coming on June 19, 2020, as a Playstation 4 exclusive.
