Far Cry: Will the next installment be revealed soon?

After its first game was released in 2004, theFar Cry series has expanded with four other installments and several spin-offs. The first Far Cry was very well received by the players and it was considered a breath of fresh air in the genre of FPS. That was thanks to the scenario where the game took place, an idyllic setting on an island of Micronesia, something that was quite rare in this kind of game by that time. Another aspect that made the franchise famous is the behavior of NPCs who at the time were very realistic.

The latest installment in the main series, Far Cry 5, took players to Hope County to confront the fanatics of Project Eden's Gate, led by Joseph Seed, who advocates the end of the world. On the other hand, Far Cry: New Dawn, which is a spin-off, immersed us in a post-apocalyptic world following the events of Far Cry 5, and it introduced new RPG-oriented mechanics to the series.

Since Far Cry New: Dawn was released in 2019, it was about time to wonder about the title in the series, Far Cry 6. Jason Schreier already mentioned Far Cry 6 in February, when it was unveiled that Ubisoft would release five AAA games by March 2021, three of which were already known, namely Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow Six: Quarantine and Gods & Monsters. Jason Schreier posted this tweet at that time:

We already know that the fourth one is Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Gamereactor adds more fuel to the rumor mill saying that Far Cry 6 may well be revealed soon, during the Ubisoft Forward taking place on July 12. Ubisoft Forward is the event organized by Ubisoft as an alternative to E3 in which we will be able to discover new projects of the company and learn more about others previously announced. We are even given a crisp detail, the setting of Far Cry 6 would be very different from that of Far Cry 5, and that it would be "much more interesting".

Of course, all this is to be taken with a pinch of salt. Nothing has been confirmed by Ubisoft, which certainly won't do so before the Ubisoft Forward. Therefore, the answer to the question will have to wait until July 12.
