The First Templar is an action-adventure game developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media Digital. The game follows the story of two protagonists - a French Templar Knight, and his female companion who has been branded a heretic. It’s up to these unlikely allies to uncover the secrets behind the Knights Templar, unearth a grand conspiracy, and learn the truth about the Holy Grail. Alongside them on their quest are powerful enemies such as King Philip IV of France, Sacracen, and even The Inquisition itself.
In The First Templar, players take control of both characters on their epic journey which takes them through medieval Paris to Jerusalem in search of answers. The First Templar features both single-player and co-op modes. When playing solo, the player can switch between the two characters, leaving control of the second hero to the game’s AI. At any moment a second player can join in and take control of the AI-controlled hero. Gameplay sees players engaging in a mix of hack-and-slash combat along with stealth missions as they navigate through medieval cities, dungeons, and catacombs – facing off against hordes of enemy forces including Templars themselves. A variety of upgradable weapons can be used for battle such as swords and bows; whilst more defensive items like shields allow players to push back attackers or protect vulnerable areas from taking extra damage during fights.
As well as this traditional combat system some quests require interaction with NPCs (non-player characters), puzzle-solving tasks, and missions that require the use of strategy to defeat powerful opponents. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or a newcomer looking for a unique gaming experience, The First Templar offers an exciting adventure, full of action and mystery that all gamers will enjoy.
