The year is 1984, but history has twisted into something unrecognizable under the dominion of the Leviathan Corporation. Their promise of a perfect utopia masks an empire of surveillance, stratification, and control. In this fractured reality, every thought is monitored, every choice scrutinized, and every memory holds the weight of suspicion.

You play as Daniel McGovern, a Roam Agent of the Thought Bureau, whose duty is to pierce the veil of human consciousness. Through the minds of suspects, you sift through distorted recollections, reconstruct fragments of their past, and interrogate the truths they would rather keep hidden. Yet memory is not a neutral witness; it bends, it deceives, and it consumes. The deeper you travel into the human psyche, the harder it becomes to separate fact from delusion, justice from obedience, or even self from the shadows you pursue.

KARMA: The Dark World is a meditation on the fragility of identity. Love, loss, betrayal, and family ties echo across shifting dreamscapes, pulling you into questions that defy clear answers. Do we own our memories, or are they shaped by forces beyond us? When truth itself is unreliable, can justice ever truly exist? Every choice you make draws you closer to revelations that threaten not only the cases before you but the very foundation of the world Leviathan has built.

The game's visual and auditory design deepens this unease. Built with Unreal Engine 5, its environments bleed between reality and nightmare, with dimly lit corridors collapse that into surreal landscapes where time and space no longer obey logic. Motion-captured performances bring unsettling humanity to every interaction, while a haunting score reverberates through Dolby Atmos, pulling you further into a state of tension where silence is as heavy as sound.

KARMA: The Dark World is not just about solving crimes; it is about confronting the boundaries of perception and surrendering to the unknown. It is about stepping into a place where order disguises chaos, where truth dissolves in memory, and where the greatest mysteries lie not in others, but within yourself.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the 'Echo' ability to reveal the path to a hidden 'Karmic Echo' even if I haven't yet experienced the event associated with that echo?
No. The 'Echo' ability reveals the path only after the player experiences the associated event and creates a 'Karmic Echo'.
If I choose to 'Alter' a significant event, will the resulting changes propagate to all subsequent 'Karmic Echoes' in the level?
Yes. Altering a key event will fundamentally reshape the timeline, altering all connected 'Karmic Echoes' and their outcomes.
Does the 'Reversal' mechanic allow me to undo choices made during dialogue sequences, or only actions related to the environment?
The 'Reversal' mechanic primarily affects actions within the game world. Dialogue choices are permanent, significantly impacting the story's direction.
Are there any limitations on how many times I can use the 'Influence' ability on a single NPC or object?
Yes. Each use of 'Influence' drains a resource, and the same NPC or object can have a limited number of 'Influence' uses before becoming immune or reacting negatively.
How do the 'Dark Shards' affect the game's ending, and can I avoid collecting them entirely?
Collecting 'Dark Shards' influences the game's final outcome. While it is possible to minimize your shard collection, some are unavoidable to progress, which is by design.
Can I use 'Memory Weaving' to combine information from multiple 'Karmic Echoes' to solve puzzles?
Yes. 'Memory Weaving' is a core mechanic. Players must analyze and connect information from different 'Karmic Echoes' to uncover secrets and overcome challenges.
Does the 'Vision' ability provide a comprehensive overview of all possible choices in a given situation, or is it more limited in scope?
The 'Vision' ability provides a limited preview of potential outcomes. It doesn't show all possibilities, encouraging players to experiment with their actions.
If I die during a 'Karmic Echo,' do I restart the entire event from the beginning, or is there a checkpoint system?
Dying within a 'Karmic Echo' typically restarts that specific echo from a recent checkpoint, allowing players to learn from their mistakes.
How does the game handle paradoxes created by altering the past, and are there any penalties for creating them?
The game incorporates a system to address paradoxes, which may cause unpredictable outcomes and influence your 'Karma' score, potentially altering the story.
Are the choices I make in early levels always relevant in the late game, or do their consequences fade over time?
Choices made in early levels can have lasting consequences, influencing events and relationships throughout the entire game, even in late-game scenarios.
