Murders shake the country, and it's up to you to stop them from happening again. Pentiment is a narrative-driven historical game set in a 16th century Germany. Created by the studio behind Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, Pentiment features graphics inspired by medieval artwork, giving it a unique old-timey feel while grounding the story in its age.

The art also links with the story itself—you play as a medieval artist named Andreas, working in the scriptorium of Kiersau Abbey during a time of social upheaval in Germany. Before long, you wind up involved in a series of murders that span a period of 25 years. You find yourself in the middle of a conspiracy—but will you be able to bring it to light?

Investigate the murders by following various leads. Talk to other characters in town to obtain clues from which you can draw conclusions. Your background will help you in your quest—you decide Andreas’s education at the start, and this impacts what skills he can use in-game, meaning every run can be different as you choose another background.
