A 2D shooter and tower defense game, Marfusha puts you in a dystopian world where you have only one task: defend the gates from a robotic horde. You play as an ordinary young girl named Marfusha, who was taken from her bakery and conscripted to fight in defense of the city. Don’t let the cute anime art style fool you—Marfusha features a dark setting that doesn’t shy away from the realities of war and the suffering ordinary people face under a corrupt government.

Every day, you must defend the city gates from waves of robots that come to attack. If you succeed, you are rewarded with a salary depending on the remaining health of the gate. To help, you can use cards that give you a choice of weapon, companion, and power-up. Your arsenal ranges from World War II-era machine guns to sci-fi weapons. You can also select one of eight girls to accompany you in defense of the gate. Each has her own specialty and unique weapon. In between shifts, you can talk with them at the dorms to get to know their stories and form better relationships.

It’s crucial to strategize on how to defend the gate so that it’s in the best possible state at the end of combat. Let it fall too low, and you’ll quickly find yourself with too little money (after taxes and insurance) to pay for upgrades, making your job even tougher moving forward. It isn’t a dystopia if you’re not living in grinding poverty.

Marfusha features ten different endings depending on your performance and your companion. There’s also a Challenge Mode where you and another player can defend against endless waves of enemies for a place on the leaderboard.
