In Starmancer you are the only hope of humanity. Planet Earth has suffered a terrible catastrophe and it's remaining inhabitants have looked to the stars for their salvation, granting you, a Starmancer artificial intelligence, control over their destiny. After uploading to your memory bank all of their collective memories you are entrusted with the task of building and managing a space station able to support human life. After that, you will have to create bodies for all the human consciousness trapped in your memory and save the human race.
But rebuilding human civilization from scratch won't be an easy task. You will have to build the facilities and the machinery needed to produce all the resources needed. Food, water, and a suitable atmosphere will be needed and once you have managed to secure those, you will be able to grow humans on bio-tanks and start assigning each of them one of the millions of personalities stored in your data banks. Then you will assign each of them a new job according to the needs of your space station. The process will be long, but managing and monitoring everything will be your responsibility. But the colonists you create will remember your actions and what happens to them, so you will have to be very careful with what you do unless you want to have them all against you.
There are more things to worry about in Starmancer. You are not alone in the solar system and you will be the one in charge of the relationships with your neighbors, forming stable alliances or vengeful enemies depending on your decisions. As you explore a procedurally generated solar system you will discover new technologies and take on different missions too. Remember that all of your actions have a direct impact on the inhabitants of your space station so whatever route you choose to follow you will have to keep an eye on them.
