Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won’t have early access

Publisher Electronic Arts seems to be quite firm in its intention of avoiding spoilers regarding the story of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In an unprecedented move, the company has decided to remove the upcoming game based on the Star Wars franchise from the list of games that can be played ahead of their release through the Play First Trial program.

Star Wars #JediFallenOrder launches this week! #EAAccess members get 10% off the game.

We've opted not to have early/timed access (Play First Trial), in part to reduce the risk of spoilers. Instead, EA Access members get these exclusive cosmetics!https://t.co/UQ1ZKzOvnh pic.twitter.com/tRV7rQjnQb

The subscribers of EA Access service usually get to play the games that are about to be released a few days before their launch date. It's quite unusual that a single-player game is barred from having a trial but the importance of the story in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has probably been the cause for this decision. The adventures of Cal Kestis as he tries to survive to the Order 66 and finish his training as Jedi will bring some light over an unexplored part of the Star Wars story, and spoiling the story ahead of time may have an impact on the early sales of the game. Also, it's likely that a limited-time trial may not be enough for players to form an accurate opinion of the game, but we are quite sure that most Star Wars fans will be willing to play the game just for its visuals and combat mechanics.

As compensation for not having a trial, EA Access subscribers will have several exclusive cosmetic items as a reward when Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launches on November 15th.
