We are one step closer to a Dragon Age: Dreadwolf release

RPG giant BioWare has just announced that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has reached its alpha milestone. According to a blog post by General Manager Gary McKay, the game is playable from start to finish, “from the opening scenes of the first mission to the very end. We can see, hear, feel, and play everything as a cohesive experience.”

The alpha stage is significant because now the development team can focus on iterations of the game, giving it visual polish and on perfecting the features that matter most to the fans. The team can obtain feedback from the Community Council and the playtesters to determine what to work on next.

“We can now evaluate the game’s pacing, how relationships evolve over time, and the player’s progression, as well as narrative cohesion—essentially how the story comes together. We can take the story we’ve written and see if we’re expressing it well through the characters, dialogue, cinematics, and ultimately, the player’s journey. Now that we have the ability to do a complete playthrough, we can iterate and polish on the things that matter most to our fans.”

McKay also teased that, for the first time ever, players will be able to visit the city of Minrathous, the magic-infused capital of the Tevinter Empire. The team is focusing on how to make it stand apart visually from other cities introduced in the series. He also teased that the BioWare team is concurrently working on the next Mass Effect and a new update for Star Wars: The Old Republic

There is no release date yet for Dreadwolf, but rumors say that it’s coming in 2023. Now that it’s reached alpha, here’s hoping that will come true. Keep an eye out for a Dragon Age: Dreadwolf PC key with our comparator.
