Valheim has sold one million copies in a week

As we told you yesterday, Valheim has turned out to be quite a sensation on Steam. The new survival game developed by Iron Gate has become quite popular just a few days after it entered Early Access. There are already quite a few players that are experiencing the life of a Norse warrior in the Viking purgatory, a dangerous place where surviving requires a lot of effort and a bit of luck. Valheim entered Early Access on February 2, 2021, and its popularity has been accompanied by a lot of views on Twitch, where its streams had a peak of over 127,000 viewers during the last week. The game also has a stable player base on Steam right now, with a peak of 160,000 users, which is quite a nice number for a game that has not even been officially released on its final version.

According to a message from Iron Gate on Steam's forums, Valheim has already surpassed one million sales on Valve's platform, and they promise to keep working on improving the game experience and address all the issues that the players are reporting.

Our inboxes are filled to the brims with fantastic feedback and suggestions and we are overjoyed to see how engaged our community is in Valheim’s development. We are currently hard at work addressing issues some of our players have reported to maximize the game experience for more vikings!

We are super excited to continue working together throughout 2021, as we bring you tons of cool new content, improvements and … ways to die, through the early access and beyond.

We can't forget that Valheim is still in development and that the game may suffer significant changes in the process. Luckily enough, it's already in very good shape and if the developers manage to keep it like that we could be in front of a new big hit. We already saw it happening with games like Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout last summer, and even if Valheim falls into a completely different category, the initial traction that it is getting may be enough to make it have similar success.
