Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Gets Third-Person Mode in December
Ubisoft has officially announced that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive a highly anticipated update on December 5, 2025, that will introduce a third-person camera mode and New Game+. These additions come nearly two years after the game's launch and directly address some of the community’s most frequent requests.
A new way to explore Pandora
The new third-person perspective will give players a chance to see their Na'vi character in full view while traversing Pandora’s vibrant landscapes or engaging in combat against the RDA. According to Ubisoft, this feature is not just a simple camera shift; it's been built with significant adjustments to animations, controls, and audio to ensure a smooth and natural gameplay experience when switching between first and third person.
New Game+ will allow players to replay the main story while carrying over weapons, gear, and unlocked abilities from their first playthrough. To keep things challenging, enemy difficulty will be scaled up, and new progression paths, including an additional skill tree and higher-level equipment, will be available to discover.
Omar Bouali, creative director at Massive Entertainment, has talked about the upcoming update in a statement:
"We've always envisioned Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as a living world that evolves with our players. This update is a celebration of our community's passion, and we're thankful to our players for their support. It means the world to our team."
The timing of this update is no coincidence, as it arrives just weeks before the release of James Cameron's next film in the franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, set to premiere on December 19, 2025. Ubisoft is clearly aiming to capitalize on the renewed excitement around Pandora's universe.
Since its release in December 2023, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has received steady post-launch support, including story expansions like The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires, as well as performance updates and quality-of-life improvements such as a redesigned Hunter's Guide and enhanced combat balancing. With the upcoming third-person option and New Game+ mode, there has never been a better time to dive back into the Western Frontier. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can get your copy or Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at the best price with our comparator.
