The Lord of the Rings: Gollum unveils Precious Edition

It’s almost time to take a trip back to Middle Earth with the launch of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum this May. This time, you’ll be seeing the world through the eyes of one of the franchise’s most interesting antagonists, whose hobbies include fratricide and collecting cursed jewelry. Check out the Gollum pre-order trailer here:

The game will have two versions, the Standard Edition and the Precious Edition. The latter has more in store for hardcore Tolkien fans. First is a lore compendium that unlocks more information about locations and characters as you progress through the game. You also get the official soundtrack and an Art Expedition app which features 100 sketches and behind-the-scenes details about the making of the game. Lastly, it comes with an Elvish voice pack so you can hear elf characters speak in their native tongue of Sindarin, one of the languages Tolkien invented for the books. If you prefer to get just one or the other, you can also purchase these DLCs outside of the Precious Edition.

Developed by Daedelic Entertainment, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum follows the titular character through a journey set before The Lord of the Rings and his fateful meeting with Frodo and Sam. It starts in the fortress of Barad-Dur in Mordor, where Gollum must escape captivity, and take us all throughout Middle-Earth, meeting characters good and evil alike. Gollum isn’t a fighter, so his gameplay will focus on stealth and parkouring to avoid enemies and obstacles.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum launches on May 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version arriving at a later date. You can pre-order a The Lord of the Rings: Gollum PS5 key for the best prices at our comparator.
