Scam With Your Friends: A Hilarious Co-op Phone Scam Game
Job simulation games are getting increasingly creative when it comes to turning everyday work into unexpected entertainment. From cooking and making deliveries to running a shop, players have had plenty of opportunities to try their hand at familiar jobs. But what if your next job involved scamming people over the phone? That's the idea behind Scam With Your Friends, an indie game developed by JakeHub and Metater and released in Steam Early Access by Jatater Worldwide on October 15, 2026. Combining co-op gameplay, AI-powered conversations, and dark humor, the game creates a workplace experience unlike any other.
When Your Way With Words Makes or Breaks the Team
Set in Kolkata, India, Scam With Your Friends puts players in the shoes of employees at a fictional scam call center. Under the watchful eye of a short-tempered boss, you and your teammates must make phone calls, convince people on the other end to send money, and meet your daily quota if you want to keep your jobs. It sounds simple enough, but the work requires more quick thinking and smooth talking than you might expect. Instead of relying on NPCs that repeat a handful of scripted lines, the game uses AI to create real-time conversations, allowing players to communicate directly through their microphones. You can come up with your own stories to persuade the person on the other end, adjust your approach based on their reactions, and try to turn things around when a call doesn't go as planned. That unpredictability makes every conversation a challenge of its own, with no guaranteed formula for success.
However, being a smooth talker isn't enough. Working at the call center also involves plenty of other activities, sometimes forcing players to juggle several problems at once:
- Remote computer access: Explore the AI characters' computers to gather information that might help during your calls.
- Useful tools: Interact with in-game applications such as Paint, cameras, and screen recording software.
- Unexpected trouble: Deal with computer viruses, scambaiters, police raids, and even ridiculously over-the-top airstrikes.
As players progress, they can unlock new scenarios, but their workdays become increasingly chaotic as unexpected problems keep popping up while the team struggles to meet its targets. This is where the co-op experience becomes particularly entertaining, especially when not everyone can keep things under control. One player might be busy trying to convince someone over the phone, while another is struggling with a computer problem or accidentally making an already messy situation even worse. While the chaotic shifts in Crashout Crew deliver laughs through forklifts spinning out of control, Scam With Your Friends finds its humor in unpredictable conversations and each player's ability to improvise. The combination of workplace pressure, unexpected situations, and teammates who don't always work well together could lead to plenty of memorable moments.
Visually, the game features a simple, cartoon-like 3D art style with amusing character designs. Its office environment and increasingly absurd situations are presented with a satirical touch, turning the subject of scamming into dark comedy rather than an overly serious experience.
That said, Scam With Your Friends is still in Early Access. The developers are aiming for a full release around mid-December 2026, with plans to expand conversation scenarios and improve the AI system, co-op features, and overall performance based on community feedback. This also means players may still encounter technical issues or content that needs further refinement, especially since AI-driven conversations play such an important role in the experience.
To me, the most interesting thing about Scam With Your Friends isn't its rather unusual premise, but how it turns communication into a genuine gameplay mechanic. The concept has plenty of potential for the co-op simulation genre, although its long-term appeal will depend on the reliability of the AI system and whether conversations can remain varied and engaging over time. If the developers get those elements right, this could become a fun choice for groups of friends who enjoy comedy and unpredictable situations.
