Pillars of Eternity 2 is on the way
Obsidian Entertainment has announced Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, a sequel of their critically acclaimed RPG Pillars of Eternity. After successfully funding through Kickstarter the development of the original title, raising almost $4 million and becoming the fourth most funded game on the crowdfunding platform up to date, they have decided to continue the series with a new installment. This time they are launching a crowdfunding campaign through Fig, aiming for $1.1 million, with $2.25 million open for equity.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Campaign Launch Trailer

“Our goal for Pillars of Eternity 2 is to improve on what fans loved about the original while adding features our fans want to see: truly living cities, more freedom to explore the open world, and pushing what we do best at Obsidian – letting players define and play the role they want to play,” said Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart.Pillars of Eternity 2 will continue the Watcher of Caed Nua story from the previous game, taking players back to Eora to explore the new lands of the Deadfire Archipelago. The return of Eothas, the god of light and rebirth, will set events in motion and cause the destruction of your stronghold, leaving you with unanswered questions that only the god can answer, even if those "could throw mortals and the gods themselves into chaos." For those of us that loved classic roleplaying titles like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale series, it was already great to see that Obsidian was back into the fray with Pillars of Eternity and its The White March expansion, so the launch of a sequel is definitely a good thing to happen. We hope it is at least as good as the previous one or even better.
