Persona 3 remake announcement is coming, says insiders

Persona 3 remake announcement is coming, says insiders

All signs are pointing to a big announcement by Atlus about the rumored Persona 3 remake, according to insiders. Rumors have been going on about this JRPG remake for a year, and now, there’s a good chance we will get an official announcement from Atlus during the Xbox Showcase on Sunday, June 11.

For nostalgia’s sake, here’s the game’s opening from Persona 3 Portable

Return to Gekkoukan High?

Persona 3 remake rumors have been swirling since a year ago, but things started heating up last month when a short clip of Persona 3’s gameplay was apparently leaked by Twitter account @AVtoGAMEnoYAMI. The five-second video showed one of the protagonists, Yukari along with her Persona Io, fighting a Shadow. The clip has long been taken down, but since Atlus has neither confirmed nor denied its authenticity, fans have been left speculating ever since.

Later, more fuel was added to the fire when a user named @MbKKssTBhz5 discovered that the web domain “P3RE.JP” had been registered on March 15, 2023, with the same domain provider as Persona 5 Royal’s official Japanese website.

While it’s possible this is all an elaborate hoax, it takes a lot of effort to obtain that domain name and fake a video that uses a character model not found anywhere online. Also, there is a precedent: both Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers have also been leaked when their domain names were discovered.

More Persona 3 clues

In the latest round of news, data miner “Pan-Hime” and Atlus insider “I’m a Hero Too” have separately tweeted that an announcement from Atlus will be happening soon, with the latter pointing to a specific event: the Xbox Showcase coming this Sunday, June 11. This makes sense given Atlus and Microsoft’s cozy relationship—Atlus had announced they would be porting Persona 5 to Xbox and launching remasters of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden during last year’s Xbox Summer Showcase.

Is the Persona 3 remake real, and will Atlus be making the official announcement soon? Are we going to see a vastly improved version of this beloved JRPG? We will have more news for you as it happens. Till then, you can sate your craving for more Persona with keys for Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal from our listings.
