Exclusive RTX 5090 D V2 for China debuts with new design
As per a recent report from Benchlife, Nvidia has announced its intention to release its RTX 5090 D V2 graphics card in China. The GPU is set to debut on August 12th, confirming that it hasn’t been canceled due to the easing of US export restrictions.
Generally speaking, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 D V2 is quite similar to its original V1 version. The only alteration involves its memory setup. Rather than having 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit memory bus, it offers 24GB of GDDR6 memory on a 384-bit memory bus. This change results in reduced memory bandwidth and capacity, leading to decreased AI performance. The effect of this modification on gaming performance remains uncertain.

The RTX 5090 D V2 is equipped with 21,760 CUDA cores and has a total graphics power (TGP) of 575W, which is the same as Nvidia’s previous RTX 5090 models. As of now, the price for Nvidia’s new RTX 5090 D V2 has yet to be revealed. Due to its diminished memory specifications and performance, this graphics card might be priced lower. However, since Nvidia faces no competition in this market segment for GPUs, they could potentially keep the original pricing of the RTX 5090 D intact.
The RTX 5090 D V2 is part of Nvidia’s approach to adhere to US regulations regarding the export of advanced technology to China. This strategy allows Nvidia to retain its foothold in the vital Chinese market. It will be interesting to see how the Chinese market reacts to this new model, particularly given its slightly inferior hardware compared to the standard version.
While the RTX 5090 showcases a new high for peak performance, top-tier power is not the sole option available. The RTX 5080 features impressive next-gen technology, super-fast ray tracing, and DLSS 4 support, all while offering a more wallet-friendly price. Whether you’re constructing a high-end setup or enhancing your current system, the RTX 5080 provides exceptional gaming and creative abilities at a more affordable cost.
