NVIDIA’s official GeForce NOW app is now available on the Steam Deck
Earlier this year at CES, Nvidia announced that it is developing a native application for Steam Deck users, allowing them to move away from the browser method for streaming games on the platform. After several months, the app is now available for open beta testing, and Nvidia is encouraging everyone to give it a try. Additionally, six more games have been included in the supported list for the platform this week.
Users who start using the Steam Deck app can stream their games at resolutions up to 4K 60FPS, based on their subscription tier, either directly on the device or by connecting it to a television. Like other devices, Nvidia's HDR10, DLSS 4, and Reflex technologies are available for supported games as well.
"The company notes that members can experience these games at settings and performance levels that are not achievable natively on the Steam Deck," the statement continues. "Moreover, Steam Deck users can benefit from up to 50% extended battery life when streaming from a cloud-based RTX gaming rig."
You can download the beta app from Nvidia's GeForce NOW download portal here, where you'll find the Steam Deck listed under the Gaming Handheld Devices category. Remember that the GeForce NOW 40% discount sale is still ongoing, with Nvidia reducing the price of the Performance membership until July.
As always, be aware that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass, a GeForce NOW member must own a copy of a game (or at least have a license through PC Game Pass) to begin playing via Nvidia's cloud servers.
With the GeForce NOW app now accessible on the Steam Deck, it's the perfect time to pick up Valve’s handheld and elevate your gaming experience. Stream your favorite PC games with stunning fidelity wherever you may be, and take full advantage of the Steam Deck’s versatility, comfort, and performance.
