Nintendo finally shows more of Breath of the Wild 2

It was announced a couple of years ago during E3 2019, but Breath of the Wild 2 has now caught the attention of all gamers again. It must be said that Breath of the Wild was one of the Nintendo Switch's launch games in March 2017, and it remains one of the best games released on the hybrid console to date. Some people even consider that no Nintendo game since has been on the same level as Breath of the Wild, so it's understandable why the launch of its sequel is so anticipated.

Since its announcement, the fans have been expecting news about Breath of the Wild 2 in every Nintendo Direct, but until the information about it has been scarce. At least until yesterday, when we discovered more about the game thanks to a new video. There's been a lot of speculation about the game so far, but the trailer below already shows some of the features in Breath of the Wild 2, so we encourage you to watch it before reading any further.

Several things stand out in this Breath of the Wild 2 trailer, but the most striking of them is the state of the kingdom of Hyrule, which is fragmented with a part that is made up of floating islands in the air. This is reminiscent of Skyward Sword, the upcoming remake of which is chronologically the first game in the series and features Celesbug, Link's home village. Therefore, it's not impossible that the two games are linked in some way, and that Breath of the Wild 2 integrates a notion of time travel, especially since Link presents two different appearances in the trailer. The second noticeable thing is that Link will have new abilities, three of which we can already see here. Also, he doesn't seem to need the Sheikah tablet anymore, as his arm has obviously been corrupted. One question that remains unanswered is the fate of Zelda, who is seen falling into an abyss at the beginning of the trailer.

Finally, the good news is that we now have a release window. Breath of the Wild 2 will be released in 2022. Of course, this needs to be clarified, and we still don't know what the final title of the game will be, but it's better than what we knew so far, which was nothing at all. There are still many things to discover about this sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but with this release window, Nintendo should reveal more information from now on. We can't wait!
