John Wick Hex Delisted: Game to Be Pulled After 6-Year Run
John Wick Hex, the official tactical strategy game set in the universe of the acclaimed action film series, is nearing the end of its digital lifespan. Developed by indie studio Bithell Games, led by Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell, and published by Big Fan Games, the title first launched on PC in October 2019 before expanding to macOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Breaking away from the traditional run-and-gun formula, John Wick Hex offers a unique, timeline-based strategy experience. Players take control of the legendary hitman in a turn-based system where every action—whether it's a headshot, dodge, or roll into cover—consumes valuable time. This mechanic creates an intense, chess-like flow, mirroring the calculated violence seen in the films. Each action eats up some of that time, from a fraction of a second to reload, to multiple seconds to bandage up wounds. Run out of time, and you fail the mission.
Unfortunately, John Wick Hex will be delisted from all digital storefronts starting July 17, 2025, according to an official announcement by publisher Big Fan Games. While no detailed explanation was provided, the removal is likely due to the expiration of the licensing agreement with Lionsgate, which owns the John Wick intellectual property. Notably, Big Fan Games has since been acquired by Devolver Digital. Lionsgate has confirmed it has a John Wick AAA video game in the works, although they have said nothing about it.
As of now, the game is still available for purchase on Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop for $19.99. PC players can also pick it up on Humble Bundle at a steep discount—just $3.99—while it lasts.
