Hoa 2 - The New Chapter
On August 2021, Hoa, from the team at Skrollcat Studio, made a mark with its hand-painted art style and the soft strains of the piano. Instead of high-stakes drama, the game is a chill and poetic experience. On March 9, 2026, almost five years after its original launch, Skrollcat Studio and publisher PM Studios have revealed the first images of Hoa 2. This is the next phase of the project, and an enormous step up in terms of scale and technology from the first installment in the series.
Learning Shifting from 2D Landscapes to Profound 3D Environments
Hoa was praised as a respectable attempt to translate watercolor artistry into games. Continuing this journey, Hoa 2 sees a significant change as it moves from a 2D to a fully realized 3D environment. As confirmed at The MIX Spring Game Showcase 2026, players will have freedom of perspective as they explore the world through spatial puzzles rather than being limited to a side-view.
Set long after the events of the original, the story follows the return of the protagonist in a world that has changed significantly due to the passage of time. The themes of nostalgia and adaptation are further emphasized with the change in narrative approach. The game is built with the aim of creating a world that is conducive for internal transformation while maintaining the signature gentle feel of the series. Scheduled for a release in the latter part of 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, Hoa 2 is a poignant tale.
The release of the Hoa 2 trailer is a great motivation for new players to start their journey in the series. With the next installment coming later this year, now is the perfect time to revisit Hoa’s stunning watercolor universe and soak in the peaceful atmosphere one more time.
