God of War's 20th anniversary is bringing many surprises

The first God of War was released in 2005 and it was the beginning of one of the most iconic video game series of all time. With Kratos as a protagonist, the game allowed players to immerse themselves in a universe where the mighty warrior fought against all odds to claim vengeance from the Greek pantheon. The game's impressive visuals, addictive action-based gameplay, and legendary weapons soon made it one of the biggest hits ever released on PlayStation consoles, and God of War became one of the flagships of Sony's platforms. The first game was followed by several installments, each of them better than the previous one, and Santa Monica Studio consolidated its position as a noteworthy video game developer in a process that culminated with the release of God of War: Ragnarok, the latest installment in the popular series which is now available also on PC.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise, which will take place on March 22, Sony has shared its plans for the celebration. These include the release of a free game update that will grant all those who own God of War: Ragnarök on PC and PlayStation access to the Dark Odyssey Collection as a gift. This collection includes a variety of cosmetic items to customize Kratos, his companions, and his weapons in the game. But you don't need to wait until then to get a reward. There's a 20th Anniversary Fan Kit already available that comes with an anniversary-themed social media asset collection,  including banners, icons, and desktop/mobile wallpapers. The kit will be expanded on March 20 with the addition of new items to the Steam Points Shop for PC players and a new PlayStation Network Avatar.
