Frostpunk 2 releases new trailer, launches in 2024

It’s been a while since we had an update on Frostpunk 2, but developer 11bit Studios has finally come through. During the PC Gaming Show, they announced that the sequel to their hit survival city builder is launching in 2024. Behold the new trailer for Frostpunk 2:

Cold cold heart

In the BAFTA-nominated game Frostpunk, the world has descended into a wintry apocalypse that you and your people must somehow survive. The entirety of your civilization is centered around an enormous coal-fire furnace that provides your citizens the warmth and energy they need—as long as you can keep the fires going. With the cold as an ever-present enemy, you must make tough decisions to stay alive. This may include forcing your people to work round the clock for fuel and food, or supporting production shortfalls with child labor.

Frostpunk 2 is set 30 years after the original. This time, the horrific blizzards that defined your citizens’ lives are a thing of the past. The City has progressed from using coal to oil and its focus has shifted from survival to expansion.

However, with prosperity comes unbridled ambition and violence as various groups with competing interests vie for control. As co-director and design director, Jakub Stokalski puts it:

“Frostpunk 2 is still a game about the City and its society. But inner turmoils, sparked by rising social differences, mean that players will be facing new kinds of threats. We still use postapocalyptic setup, to tell a meaningful story about human ambition. Because ultimately, what can end us is not nature itself – it’s human nature.”

Frostpunk 2 launches next year but doesn’t have a specific launch date yet; we will keep an eye out for news as they come. Check out our listings for a Frostpunk 2 PC key. If you haven’t tried it yet, pick up the original Frostpunk as well.
