Everspace 2 will finally be playable this month

With 2020 behind and still in the mids of the pandemic, some video game developers are catching up with their postponed schedule. This is the case of Rockfish games, who delayed the launch of Everspace 2 twice during the last year. The release of Cyberpunk 2077 was the last cause for the delay of the new open-world space shooter, but it will finally become available on PC this month. Everspace 2 will enter Early Access on January 18 and even though the game has still a long way to go in terms of development the success of the Kickstarter campaign that funded the game anticipates that the game is going to be quite popular.

Developer Rockfish Games has commented on the contents available in Everspace 2 when it begins its voyage through Early Access, and it seems that players that decide to buy it will have access to about 25 hours of gameplay. Rockfish CEO Michael Schade goes into detail in a statement:

"Of course, the game is far from being finished. On top of the two-star systems, Everspace 2 pilots will be able to explore in Early Access at launch, we plan to have four to six more as well as several additional player ship subclasses beyond the Interceptor, Sentinel, Striker, Gunship, and Scout at launch, to be gradually added on a quarterly basis. In the final game, players will also be able to enjoy twice as much story content plus lots of worthwhile endgame activities."

Everspace 2 will offer you a good dose of space exploration and combat in an open world, also adding role-playing game mechanics into the mix. If you like titles like Elite Dangerous or you are an old fan of the Wing Commander series it could be a great game for you. It will be available on Steam via Early Access and on GOG via its Games in Development program. The final version of Everspace 2 is expected to arrive in 2022 on PC but it will be followed by console versions.
