Diablo IV will have character customization
The Diablo series is one of the most important representatives of the action role-playing game genre and its games, along with the World of Warcraft franchise, have contributed to making Blizzard one of the biggest video game developers in the world. Despite the huge success of the series, there is one feature that has been missing in all of its games, and that is character customization. the original Diablo, Diablo II, and Diablo III all offer you several classes to choose from for your characters, and each of them has access to certain types of weapons and armor. There is an impressive range of items available in each of the games, and they have plenty of different looks, but in the end, especially when you are trying to get the bonuses from wearing certain armor sets, most of the heroes of the same class look the same. That's also true when it comes to their physical appearance.
Blizzard has recently published the Diablo IV quarterly update corresponding to June 2021, and it seems that the game will finally introduce character customization for the first time ever in the series. According to Diablo IV Lead Character Artist Arnaud Kotelnikoff, there will be plenty of cosmetic options to choose from in order to create the hero you always wanted to be, and a brand new dye system will be in place, allowing players to change the color palette of any armor piece.
"You will be able to change the face of your character, the hairstyle, the facial hair (beards and eyebrows), and add jewelry (nose piercing or earrings), makeup, and body markings such as tattoos or body paint. You will also be able to change the color values of your character’s skin, eyes, hair/facial hair, and body markings. Some elements will be class specific, to support the classes’ unique backgrounds, but many will be shared between classes allowing more possibilities to mix and match."
Diablo IV is going to be quite different from its predecessors when it comes to graphics, and the level of realism is going to be much bigger. You can watch some amazingly-looking setups for the Rogue class in the video below and marvel at the level of detail of some outfits, that really leaves you wondering if you are going to be able to perceive it all from the isometric perspective.
Diablo 4 is on the track to become the game that will take the popular series to new heights but we will have to wait a bit longer, since the game does not have a release date yet.
