Half-Life: Alyx, a demo is available for Valve Index owners

Half-Life: Alyx, a demo is available for Valve Index owners
Mar 5, 2020, 6:08 PM

Since Half-Life: Alyx was officially revealed by Valve, information about the game has been flowing a good pace. Now, less than a month before the release of the game, we seem to be getting some extra pieces. Just a few days ago, we discovered three new gameplay videos, which allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the environment of Half-Life: Alyx and some of its features.

Valve has rightly decided to allow players to discover this environment in-depth, or more precisely, two parts of it. If you have a VR Valve Index headset, you can visit Steam VR Home and download a preview of the game which acts more or less as a demo. The two places you can visit are the streets of City 17 and Russell's laboratory. Valve specifies that the functionalities present in this preview are very limited compared to what the final version of Half-Life: Alyx will offer. However, it allows you to discover some of the possible interactions with the environment, and to become familiar with the game.

Valve also took the opportunity to declare that their VR headset, Valve Index, will be available for purchase again on March 9, at 10 a.m., Pacific time. We can already imagine that the stocks will not last long, but Half-Life: Alyx is also compatible with other VR headsets.

Finally, the other news that will please players, but this time it's those who do not have a VR headset, is that Half-Life: Alyx seems to be just the beginning. In an interview with Game Informer, game designer at Valve and developer on Half-Life: Alyx Robin Walker spoke about the reasons that led to making it a VR game, but above all, he made an interesting statement:

"There are also people on the team for whom Half-Life: Alyx is their first time working on this series at all – and many of them certainly hope it's not the last. We absolutely see Half-Life: Alyx as our return to this world, not the end of it."

Therefore, those who have been waiting for Half-Life 3, or at least, hope for other games in the series, can rejoice, it seems that we have not finished hearing about Half-Life in the years to come.
