Assassin's Creed Valhalla gameplay video is not what we expected

Disappointing is the word that came to the minds of most of the people that watched the Assassin's Creed Valhalla "gameplay" video that was shown yesterday. It's not that the video doesn't feature great footage, it's just that when you announce a gameplay video, people expect to see exactly that and not a collection of scenes. Even if the video has been created using the in-game engine of Assasin's Creed Valhalla, it falls very short of meeting the expectations generated and that is the perfect soil for growing critics.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla looks amazing and the video shows Ubisoft's effort for creating a game that will deliver an accurate representation of some aspects of the life of a Viking raider in the 9th century. The battle scenes look great, including the siege, but when you finish watching the video you can't avoid thinking that this is not really a gameplay video. The huge amount of complaints that have been voiced out already, mainly in the form of dislikes for the youtube video, have made some of the developers react. Creative director Ashraf Ismail has addressed the issue on his Twitter account, and he has promised a long marketing campaign with more gameplay and information about Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Whether it is a gameplay video or not, it clearly demonstrates that there are a lot of players interested in Assassin's Creed Valhalla already, and that could translate in a success even bigger than the attained by its predecessor. On the other hand, we hope that Ubisoft has also learned a lesson from all this and that it call things by their rightful name in the future.
