A remaster of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is in the works
If you are a fan of the RPG genre you will probably have heard about Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, a game developed by the now extinct 38 Studios and published by Electronic Arts in 2012. THQ Nordic bought the rights for the game and now Kaiko is working on a remastered version of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning that will be released this summer. The launch of the game has been confirmed thanks to being listed in the Microsoft Store, where it also says that it will be available on August 11.
With R.A. Salvatore in charge of the story, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane working on the art of the game, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's Ken Rolston as executive designer, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning had all the potential to become a huge success. The favorable critics that the received praising its gameplay, graphics and story were not accompanied by great sales, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sold about 1,2 million copies that were not enough to solve the financial problems that 38 Studios had by then and which ultimately led to the closure of the studio.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
In Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning you will play as the Fateless One, a mortal brought back to life through an experiment and the only person in the world whose fate is not decided beforehand. That also gives you the power to change the fate of other people and your actions will have a great impact in a world torn apart by a devastating war. The game features four different races and three classes to choose from, with lots of abilities to unlock as you gain experience. Combats in the game are action-based and you will have plenty of options to take on your enemies in thrilling battles.
THQ Nordic is giving Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning a second chance with a remastered version, and the guys at Kaiko also have another opportunity to demonstrate that they can do very good things, as they recently did with the remasters of the Darksiders series.
