Enter a world of survival horror in DayZ. Currently in development by Bohemia Interactive, DayZ presents an open world environment inhabited by the undead. The game spawned from an award-winning mod of the same name, and now stands alone as its successor, in an experience that you won't soon forget. Players are placed in the post-Soviet state of Chernarus, a fictional area of 225 km2 which sees players scrambling to survive. Taking on the role of survivor, you must hunt across the world for replenishments including water, food, weaponry and medicine, all the while running or killing violent zombies. Players will have to learn to co-operate with each other, if they are to stand any chance of survival. You will scavenge supplies from abandoned houses, barns and other areas to stay alive and healthy in the treacherous conditions of the zombie outbreak. You will also obtain various forms of clothing, which will allow players to customize their characters to an extent, whilst bringing the additional benefit of extra storage space for supplies and warmth. Weapons will also be dotted around to protect yourself with, including a large range of melee weapons and a small amount of firearms. Equipped from the start with basic clothing, a rag and a road flare, you will have to scratch and claw your way through the land to find the essentials that will keep you alive. DayZ offers up its fair share of realism also, with planned traits to include diseases such as dysentry, hepatitis and cholera which can be caused by consuming rotten food and dirty water, in which players will have to find and apply the appropriate medicine. Other planned features include security systems, ranged voice chat and potentially player-controlled radio communications.
