GTFO is a terrifying cooperative first-person shooter for four players in which you will play as a member of a team of scavengers that are sent to a facility that has been overrun by strange monsters. The vast underground complex that you will have to explore contains valuable artifacts that you have to secure and extract. As you progress through the place, you will have to do your best to avoid enemies because your resources are limited. Even though you can gather weapons and extra equipment as you explore the place, your primary mission is to escape with the items you are looking for. Confrontation will be almost unavoidable though, and once you have to face whatever monsters infest this place, you better cooperate with your teammates and put your skills to the best use if you want to escape alive.

You will have to stay on your toes because sneaking through the place will prove to be really hard. As you explore the complex, you will discover clues about the origin of the monsters, and if you are skilled and lucky enough, you might be able to find a way of escaping this terrifying nightmare in one piece. Remember that GTFO focuses on team cooperation, so deciding what gear to carry and devise a plan to follow when things get complicated may give you just enough margin to attempt to escape before getting overwhelmed by hordes of monsters.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

: Can the flashlight be used to scan for enemies, or is it only for basic navigation?
The flashlight has no scanning functionality; it is solely for illumination of the environment. Enemy detection relies on audio cues, teamwork, and specific tools like the 'Seeker'.; If a teammate is downed and the alarm goes off, is there any way to revive them during the alarm, or is it a guaranteed failure?
Reviving a downed teammate during an alarm is extremely difficult but not impossible. It requires coordinated teamwork and potentially using tools like the 'Medkit' and effective enemy management.; Are the objectives always in the same place, or are they randomly generated in each expedition?
The general layout and objectives are pre-determined, but the specific location of key items and the paths to reach them can vary on each run, adding to the replayability.; How does the 'Heavy Hammer' interact with the environment, and does it have any secondary uses besides combat?
The Heavy Hammer is primarily for melee combat. It can also destroy certain environmental obstacles and is used to open specific doors and hatches.; Does the 'C-Foam Launcher' work on all surfaces, and what are its limitations in terms of area coverage?
The C-Foam Launcher can be used on most surfaces, however, it's limited in its range and the area it can cover with foam. Improper use can trap your team, not the enemies.; Can a 'Scout' be used to disable enemy spawns permanently, or is its effect temporary?
The Scout's effect on enemy spawns is temporary. It provides a window of opportunity but does not permanently disable them. It's a tactical tool, not a guaranteed solution.; Is stealth always a viable strategy, or are there expeditions where combat is unavoidable?
Stealth is highly encouraged, but combat is often unavoidable due to alarms and resource limitations. Proper planning and resource management are essential.; How do environmental hazards, like toxic gas or radiation, affect your team, and are there protective measures?
Environmental hazards cause damage over time, requiring the use of specific tools like the 'Bio Scanner' or the appropriate gear to mitigate the effects.; Is it possible to carry unlimited resources, or is inventory management a key aspect of the game?
Inventory management is a core mechanic. Players have limited inventory slots and must carefully choose what to carry, impacting their ability to overcome challenges.; How important is communication and coordination with teammates, and are there any in-game tools to aid this?
Communication and coordination are absolutely essential. The game relies heavily on teamwork. In-game tools such as the 'Ping' system and proximity voice chat facilitate this.

GTFO is probably one of the most intense, demanding, and unique cooperative games of recent years. Where Darktide makes you a war machine slaughtering hordes, GTFO makes you feel like a team of four terrified survivors just trying to get out alive.

GTFO is difficult just as it should be. Here there is no room for wasting ammunition or resources, and even less room for the solitary player, cooperate with your friends or you and your team will die in awful circumstances.

One of the best co-op games I've ever played. The difficulty is punishing but feels fair, each update adds lots of polish to existing features while also adding new ones. 1.0 introduced bots that are actually competent (they seem pro compared to the ones in Back4Blood).

A game to play with friends. It's not so much a horror game, but more a survival game. I found it very challenging.

Tl;dr basically 33% horror game, 33% stealth game, 33% shooter. Its a very unique blend of several genres in a product thats genuinely spooky and makes you feel unease. The fact that the game changes completely every other month is a big plus and the devs really care about it.
