Intel reveals GPU roadmap update with Xe3P for next Arc family
Intel has confirmed it is developing a "Next ARC Family" of GPUs, utilizing its "Xe3P" graphics architecture. This news, revealed at the 2025 Tech Tour US, follows an in-depth look at Intel's Xe3 GPU architecture, which is also used in Panther Lake.
While Panther Lake's Xe3 GPUs are technically part of the Xe3 architecture, Intel classifies them under its ARC B-Series "Battlemage" family, even though existing "B-series" discrete GPUs are based on Xe2. Based on the image below and its square package, the "Next ARC" GPU appears to be a discrete GPU design rather than a successor to Panther Lake. Intel has only stated that it uses Xe3P and belongs to the "Next ARC Family."

This announcement dispels speculation that Intel would abandon its Xe/ARC graphics technology after its recent partnership with Nvidia to launch x86 CPUs with Nvidia RTX graphics. Intel clarifies that its Nvidia GPU options will "complement" its ARC GPU offerings, and the development of a "next ARC family" confirms continued investment in new ARC products.
Intel's commitment to ARC is crucial for its future. Strong CPU performance alone is insufficient for modern laptops and desktops. Successful System-on-Chips (SOCs) require robust performance across CPU, graphics, and AI. Abandoning graphics would jeopardize Intel's prospects, a sentiment echoed by Apple, AMD, and Qualcomm, who are all enhancing graphics components in their new SOCs.
For gamers, Intel's next-gen XeSS 3 technology promises smoother frame rates and sharper visuals. The Intel ARC B580 is designed to fully leverage XeSS 3, offering impressive performance, crisp image quality, and excellent value for contemporary gaming.
