Fans eager to see Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will have to wait a bit as the game has been delayed to December. The news came from the Valkyrie Elysium Twitter, with the team stating that it needs “a bit more time for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth to improve the quality of the title and have decided to move the release date to December 22nd, 2022.”

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth was meant to ship with the release of Valkyrie Elysium as part of its Deluxe Edition, although it could be purchased separately as well. That said, Valkyrie Elysium is still scheduled for next month on September 29 for the PlayStation 4 and 5, with a November 11 release for Steam. Those who pre-ordered Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will get their copy in December instead.
Two sides of the same tale
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is a remaster of the original Valkyrie Profile RPG, released in 1999 for the PlayStation 1. You play as the titular Lenneth, a Valkyrie tasked by Odin to gather the souls of dead heroes, known as Einherjar, to fight on his side during Ragnarok. Lenneth was a mix of a platformer with turn-based tactics, with the twist that you need to use each party member’s attacks in proper combinations to unleash ultimate attacks and spectacular damage.
Valkyrie Elysium is an entirely different animal, going the way of a hack and slash action game. You can still summon Einherjar, but they will fight on their own as you control your Valkyrie. They can also be used to solve environmental puzzles using their special abilities, such as creating an ice platform to let you cross a chasm. As for the story, it appears to be playing out during Ragnarok itself, right after the great wolf Fenrir attacked the gods and mortally wounded Odin. With his waning power, Odin created a new class of gods—apparently, the Valkyries.
