Legion Go 2 preorders canceled by Lenovo due to unexpected demand

Unexpected demand forces Lenovo to cut back on Legion Go 2 preorders

Many gamers have experienced the cancellation of their pre-orders for the Lenovo Legion Go 2 after the company announced that it could not deliver its latest handheld console on schedule. There has been significant inquiry about the delay, and in response, the company addressed the situation in an AMA post on Reddit, stating, "The reality is that pre-orders for the Legion Go Gen 2 have far surpassed our estimates, resulting in unexpected extensions in delivery timelines." The company further commented, "As a result, we will need to cancel a number of pre-orders made directly on Lenovo.com. We do not support retaining customer payments for products we cannot deliver promptly."

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is a PC gaming handheld that features AMD's Z2 platform, similar to the forthcoming Xbox Ally. It includes an OLED display paired with AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme gaming chip. This combination merges advanced display technology with AMD’s high-end Ryzen Z2 Gaming SOC. With a price tag of $1350 / €1,349 (£1,099 in the UK) for the Z2 Extreme edition, this gaming handheld carries a significant price, marking it as a truly premium PC gaming handheld. Despite this, many gamers are willing to invest a considerable amount for the ultimate gaming experience.

Featuring detachable controllers, a trackpad, and mouse-like capabilities, Lenovo’s Legion Go is more adept at running many PC games compared to some rival products. It’s also notable that this handheld is anticipated to be among the first to offer support for Microsoft’s new “Xbox Full Screen Experience”. If this update lives up to its promises, it should enhance the battery longevity of Windows gaming handhelds. Additionally, it is likely to improve game performance by optimizing memory and other resources.

Although Lenovo has canceled pre-orders on its official website, the handheld has begun to show up at several retailers. This indicates that gamers should be able to secure one by exploring various shopping options.

On the other hand, if you're looking for a handheld that is already established, optimized for maximum performance, and tailored for serious gaming while on the move, the ROG Ally X is a clear choice. With better battery life, enhanced ergonomics, and complete Windows functionality, it represents what the future of handheld gaming should strive to achieve.
