Redfall new trailer shares details about the story and gameplay

Bethesda shared during the QuakeCon Event a 20-minute video giving a little more detail about Redfall. The new title is explained by Harvey Smith, director of Arkane Studios; Ricardo Bare, the creative director; Karen Segars, the art director; and the producer Aaron Carter.

According to the team involved in the project, the game is a narrative-based open-world FPS that can be played solo or with a group of up to four players in co-op mode. Arkane Studios is responsible for stellar games such as DishonoredPrey, and Deathloop.

"Redfall is a our effort to take what Arkane does well, a hybrid of first-person shooter and RPG," Smith said. In this scenario, players will battle vampire enemies lurking around the city. Check out the video and the insights from the ones responsible for the project below:

Bare said the game is the most ambitious in Arkane Austin's history. He knew it was important to let players play by themselves to feel the immersive Arkane experience, but adding up to three other players would change their standpoint. "The reason I like making the kind of game we make is because I like playing these kinds of games," he revealed.

Segars said that the city in the game, called Redfall, is unlike any large metropolis, even though it's the largest world Arkane has ever built. She said that people will feel like they are in a more countryside location and that walking through the streets will differ depending on the time of day and weather.

The chief producer commented on the importance of Redfall's narrative and how the developers have paid attention to world-building, as the goal is to transport the player into that environment. The story tells about a group of biotech entrepreneurs researching longevity and life extension, but when things went south, they became vampires.

Announced in 2021 at the end of Microsoft and Bethesda's event, Redfall is Arkane Studios' next major bet. The game promised to be released for Xbox as early as 2022, but like Starfield, it has been delayed until 2023. Are you looking forward to hunting vampires in this world?
