PS5 prices are set to increase in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand
Sony has revealed some adjustments to the pricing of its PlayStation 5 console in various regions, although not all variants are affected. The most recent adjustments focus on Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, with some unclear price increases also noted for the Middle East and Africa.
Effective immediately, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in the UK sees a £40 increase, bringing its price to £429.99. In Europe, the increase is €50, resulting in the Digital Edition priced at €499.99. While the Standard Edition remains unchanged in those two areas, both the Standard and Digital Edition prices are set to rise in the other countries mentioned.
| Region | Pricing |
|---|---|
| Europe | PS5 Digital Edition – €499.99 (No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive) |
| UK | PS5 Digital Edition – £429.99 (No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive) |
| Australia | Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $829.95 PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $749.95 |
| New Zealand | Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – NZD $949.95 PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $859.95 |
Regarding the motivation behind these unexpected price increases, the company stated that "given the challenging economic climate, characterized by high inflation and varying exchange rates, SIE has made the difficult choice to elevate the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 console in select markets."

Though specific details for certain regions in the Middle East and Africa were not provided in the blog post that announced these changes, Sony did indicate that these areas will also experience price hikes. The company encourages fans to consult their local retailers for precise updated pricing information.
