Philips claims the world’s first 1000Hz gaming monitor with new reveal

Philips launches ENVIA 27M2N5500XD as the first-ever 1000Hz gaming display

Philips has officially unveiled its Evnia 27M2N5500XD gaming monitor, raising the bar for ultra-high refresh rates as competition for faster displays intensifies. This model is a dual-mode Fast IPS gaming monitor, allowing users to switch between higher refresh rates at lower resolutions and higher resolutions at slightly reduced refresh rates - both options still delivering exceptionally fast performance. Ahead of its global debut, Philips has now shared more details about the monitor.

The Evnia 27M2N5500XD sports a 27-inch panel with a native 2560 × 1440 (QHD) resolution. It carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and delivers up to 500 nits peak brightness in HDR and 350 nits in SDR. Philips also lists a 2000:1 contrast ratio, along with wide color coverage, including 96% DCI-P3, 100% sRGB, and 94% Adobe RGB.

For gamers chasing maximum speed, the monitor supports 500Hz at QHD or an astonishing 1,000Hz at HD (1280 × 720). Response times are rated at 1ms, with a 0.3ms Smart MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) mode available. The display also supports FreeSync variable refresh rate, and includes gaming-focused enhancements such as Smart Sniper, Shadow Boost, and Smart Crosshair, designed to improve target visibility and accuracy, especially in darker scenes.

Connectivity is equally forward-looking, with a DisplayPort 2.1 input offering 80Gbps bandwidth, alongside HDMI 2.1 ports supporting the full 48Gbps, plus a headphone jack. The monitor is paired with an ergonomic stand that allows for height, swivel, pivot, and tilt adjustments.

Philips has already released the Evnia 27M2N5500XD in China, with a wider global rollout planned for a later date. However, official pricing details have not yet been announced.
