Switch OLED, Lite & Joy‑Cons get price hike in United States
Last week, Nintendo revealed that it would be adjusting the prices of its hardware and accessories in the United States. Although the Switch 2 will avoid price increases, the previous generation handheld console is not as fortunate, and the updated pricing is now available, indicating how much more money potential buyers will need to spend on these older consoles.
According to the changes, the original Nintendo Switch's price has increased from $300 to $340. The Nintendo Switch Lite's price has risen from $200 to $230. Additionally, the OLED model of the Nintendo Switch has seen its cost climb from $350 to $400. In summary, Nintendo enthusiasts in the United States will now face a price increase of up to 15% for their consoles. This also means that the new Switch 2 is now only $50 pricier than the Switch OLED.
On the accessories side, the prices for Joy-Con controllers, the Switch Pro Controller, and the NES controllers have risen by $10, bringing them to $90, $80, and $70, respectively. The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller has experienced a $5 increase, making it $90, similar to the Joy-Con 2s, which are now priced at $100.

Other controllers for the Switch and Switch 2, as well as charging stands, straps, amiibos, and even the 'Nintendo Alarmo' clock, have all seen price hikes ranging from $1 to $5. This updated pricing is currently reflected on the official Nintendo online store, and other retailers are expected to implement these changes shortly. In its initial announcement, Nintendo described the price adjustment as an essential decision "based on market conditions" within the United States, without providing further details.
While the launch price for the Switch 2 remains at $449, Nintendo indicated that this could also be subject to change in the future. They did not rule out potential price increases for Nintendo Switch 2 games and Nintendo Switch Online memberships.
With the original Switch facing a price boost, it’s clearer than ever that the true advancement lies with the Nintendo Switch 2. Featuring enhanced performance, improved graphics, and a new array of must-have titles, it represents the ultimate way to engage with Nintendo’s future.
