Watch the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 trailer and discover its launch date

During Sony’s recent PlayStation Showcase, Konami announced that not only will they be remaking their action-espionage epic Metal Gear Solid 3, but they will also be releasing the first five MGS games (including the original MGS3) in a single bundle: the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. Today, they released a trailer to announce the Collection’s launch date: October 24, 2023. You can check it out right here: 

A solid first collection

It looks like Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is a lot beefier than we initially thought. We already know that it contains the first three Metal Gear Solid games plus the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. With the new trailer, we learned even more bonus content is coming our way.

First, we get the SNES/Famicom version of Metal Gear, followed by Snake’s Revenge, another version of Metal Gear 2 made without director Hideo Kojima’s involvement.

That’s not all, though. The Collection is packed with extra goodies for each of the original games mentioned. Metal Gear 1 and 2 will have a copy of their Screenplay/Master book. Metal Gear Solid will contain its VR and Special missions add-on, and both Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 will feature their HD collection versions, which have both the Substance and Subsistence editions respectively.

Finally, the Collection will give us Digital Graphic Novels for Metal Gear 1 and 2 and the digital soundtrack.

With so much material included in Vol. 1, speculation is high as to what will be in Vol. 2. There’s a lot more Metal Gear to be had: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Ghost Babel, Acid 1 and 2, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and finally, Metal Gear Rising. But we’ll have to wait and see how well Vol. 1 works.

In the meantime, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 launches on October 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
