Leaked Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Super specs hint at significantly increased VRAM
NVIDIA's RTX 50 series graphics cards were launched just a few months ago, yet speculations about a new RTX GeForce 5080 Super featuring 24GB of VRAM are already emerging. Renowned leaker on X, kopite7kimi, has shared some possible specifications for this anticipated Super refresh.
The most notable aspect is the significant VRAM increase to 24GB, up from the current RTX 5080's 16GB. The bus width is expected to stay at 256-bit, while GDDR7 speeds will reach 32Gbps. The power consumption is anticipated to exceed 400 watts, although the precise figure remains uncertain. This GB203-450-A1 GPU could consequently approach the former RTX 4090 flagship in specifications and likely performance.

The GeForce RTX 5080 launched at the end of January 2025 with a starting price of $999, which quickly surged to as high as $1,799 for custom models, like the ASUS ROG Astral. Standard MSRP versions of the RTX 5080 are virtually unavailable, especially in light of the current tariff impact on the market.
Thus, it seems that an RTX 5080 Super with enhanced VRAM would probably merit an even steeper starting price because of the specification improvements. It wouldn’t be surprising if NVIDIA sets the MSRP at $1,199 or more, akin to what was originally set for the 16GB GeForce RTX 4080. However, that is merely a speculation.
The GeForce RTX 5090 currently reigns supreme in gaming and a variety of other tasks. While the RTX 5080 Super won't rival the flagship in terms of gaming (and AI) performance dominance, it can enhance the performance of the RTX 5080 and come closer to the RTX 4090 for non-DLSS gaming. If the power consumption approaches the 450W of the RTX 4090, additional new technologies in the Blackwell GPU may contribute to further enhancements.
