Information about the AMD RDNA 4 "Radeon RX 8000" GPU has been revealed in benchmark
After discovering Benchleaks, several new Geekbench results have caught our attention, possibly belonging to upcoming RDNA 4 graphics cards. These results potentially unveil the specifications of one of AMD's next-generation graphics cards.
The benchmarks are associated with the GFX1201 references, indicating that these new findings might pertain to an RDNA 4 GPU. AMD's RDNA 3 and RDNA 3.5 GPUs are characterized by GFX11XX and GFX115X IDs, making it logical for RDNA 4 to adopt GFX12XX identifiers. Additionally, the listing indicates a 2,101MHz clock speed, significantly slower than the 2.5GHz-2.6GHz boost clocks featured in the current RDNA 3 GPUs. It's expected that the RDNA 4 cards will offer even higher frequencies than their RDNA 3 counterparts, given their usage of a more modern process node and a new architecture.

According to the listing, AMD's GFX1201 GPU is documented with 28 Compute Units (CUs). Assuming that these listed compute units represent AMD Work Group processors (WGPs), the actual CU count of this GPU amounts to 56 Compute Units. This would position this graphics card between AMD's Radeon RX 7700XT (54 CUs) and RX 7800 XT (60 CUs) in terms of CU count. Furthermore, this GPU has been recorded as having 16GB of VRAM, most likely GDDR6 memory.
This new Radeon RDNA 4 graphics card could potentially succeed the Radeon RX 7700XT. If this is the case, this GPU would benefit from increased memory and additional compute units. Furthermore, it stands to benefit from any architectural improvements that RDNA 4 might bring.

It's important to mention that none of the scores are particularly impressive. The highest OpenCL score stands at 33,241, lower than the numbers achieved by the GTX 1650 and significantly below the scores attained by the RX 7900XTX. These underwhelming benchmark scores indicate that we're likely looking at a very early engineering sample, signifying that it's still a work in progress.
In any case, AMD still has a lot of fine-tuning to perform before the next-gen cards are prepared for prime time. While anticipating the next big thing for your gaming setup, you can utilize our comparator to discover the best deals for your upcoming favorite game.
