Ghostwire Tokyo has been delayed to 2022

Having to announce that the launch of a certain game has been delayed is never pleasant, but the news is always worse for those that are eagerly waiting for the release of said game. This time it's the turn of Ghostwire: Tokyo, an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda that was supposed to be released by the end of this year. The game takes you to an alternate version of Tokyo where most citizens have disappeared. The place is now invaded by otherworldly spirits known as Visitors. You will find yourself in the middle of this chaos as someone that has developed some psychic abilities that will allow you to fight against this paranormal threat. Along the way, you will try to find out what's behind the massive disappearance of 99% of the population of your city, facing the unknown to discover the truth.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was presented at the E3 2019 and its first gameplay video was revealed one year ago. The game is meant to be exclusive to Sony's next-gen console and PC for at least one year before it's available on other platforms. Some players were expecting that to change when Microsoft purchased Bethesda, but it seems that whatever agreement is in place is still firm.

The release of Ghostwire: Tokyo has been delayed to early 2022 and the reasons for this change have been explained by Tango Gameworks.

"We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible so you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we've been hard at work building. At the same time, we're also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we've always envisioned it."

If anything, the delay will give the developers more time to finish the game and also reveal more things about it. You can expect to have more news about Ghostwire: Tokyo in the coming months.
