Fable: Playground Games welcomes new team member

As fans of the Xbox-exclusive series know, the history of the Fable franchise has not always been a smooth one, from disappointments with some games, notably Fable: The Journey, to the cancellation of Fable Legends, in which players had high hopes after years of turmoil for the series. But the next game to come, soberly named Fable for the moment, has given fans some hope.

The first trailer was released in July 2020. Although it was relatively short, it left no doubt that the franchise would be back, mainly due to its characteristic humor. And it's Playground Games that is at the helm this time, a studio known for having developed the Forza Horizon series, more than just RPG titles. But for those who were worried about it, there is some excellent news about the game. His name may not ring a bell, but a certain Paweł Kapała has announced via Twitter that he will be joining Playground Games as Principal Gameplay Designer, whose job description has appeared on the studio's official website:

As a key member of the design team, you will take ownership of the core character-driven gameplay systems, working closely with all other disciplines to implement them at the highest level.

While neither the advert nor Paweł Kapała specifies that this will be about Fable, in particular, it's clear that this position is central to the company and that there's a good chance that this specific game will be the target.  When you look at the man's CV, it turns out that Paweł Kapała previously worked for CD Projekt Red, on The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, two RPGs. Therefore, it's hard to imagine that Playground Games won't use this solid experience for Fable.

In any case, we'll have to wait to find out more about Fable. Although we have recently known that it should be released well before The Elder Scrolls VI, no release date is yet in sight.
