Everything you should know about Resident Evil 2 remake

Capcom has finally decided to launch a remake one of the best titles of the Resident Evil franchise. The new Resident Evil 2 is not only a remastered version of the original survival-horror title from 1998 but a complete remake that will let you experience the thrilling adventure where Claire Renfield and Leon Kennedy escape from a zombie-infested Racoon City.

The incredible graphics seen for the first time during E3 2018 are just the tip of the iceberg. Resident Evil 2 is played on third-person over-the-shoulder perspective and it features a series of changes regarding many aspects of the game introduced to emphasize even more the survival-horror theme in the game. For example, there are no loading screens so zombies will be able to chase you from one room to another, unless you find something to block the doors, of course. Also, there will be a gunpowder crafting system that will let you partially mitigate the well-known ammunition-shortage of the original title, but that doesn´t mean you should become trigger-happy and waste your limited resources. Overall, the new Resident Evil 2 aims to be a terrifying title that takes you back to the roots of the franchise but improving the experience. Regarding the game editions, Capcom has announced two different ones apart from the base game:

  • Deluxe Edition includes the base game, "Arklay Sheriff" and "Noir" costumes for Leon, "Military", "Noir" and "Erza Walker" costumes for Claire, "Samurai Edge - Albert Model" weapon, and the option to swap to the original game soundtrack.
  • Collector's Edition comes with all of the above plus a 25-song digital soundtrack, a 32-page artbook, a Racoon City Police Department poster, and a 12" tall Leon statue. This edition is exclusive to North American regions through GameStop.

No matter what edition you choose, but if you pre-order any of them you will receive the "Samurai Edge - Chris model" and "Samurai Edge - Jill model" weapons.

The remake of Resident Evil 2 will release on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on January 25, 2019. You can find the best prices for it through our comparator, so the only question now is: what edition will you buy?
