Conan Exiles surpasses expectations early

Barely one week after going into Steam's Early Access program, Conan Exiles has already sold 320,000 copies.

Developer Funcom has announced today the sales figures for their open-world survival multiplayer title and quite surprisingly they can say that they have recovered their investment in the game already. 320,000 copies is definitely an incredible number for a title that has not officially launched yet and they couldn't be happier about it.

In words of Funcom CEO Rui Casais: “We are deeply humbled and very grateful for the initial success of Conan Exiles. Funcom has gone through some challenging times in recent years and seeing the game we have poured so much time and effort into gain this amount of traction so quickly is very invigorating for everyone who works here."

“This is just the start of the Early Access adventure and we will do whatever it takes to make sure Conan Exiles turns into a fully-fledged game that has something to offer new and old fans of both Conan and survival games,” added Casais in the press release.

It's not that the numbers are surprising because the game is not good or anything. It's more that, since it's the second take of Funcom on the world created by Robert E. Howard and with the decreasing number of players that Age of Conan has experienced over the years, even after the change of business model, anyone would have thought that people would have lost interest in the Conan the Barbarian franchise. But those numbers prove that the savage universe of the Hyborian Age still holds a great attractive to the public and that Conan Exiles is something completely different.

Along with that announcement, Funcom has also revealed that Conan Exiles is finally getting the recently advertised Conan Exiles Dev Kit, a set of tools that you can download here and that allows players to create mods for the game and then sharing them through Steam Workshop.
