Indie games have a lot to offer those brave enough to try them, and one game happens to be turning heads with its nightmarish scenario. In Two Star Games’ Choo-Choo Charles, you are being chased by an enormous, man-eating train with a hideous face and giant spider legs. You can check out its announcement trailer below.

Choo-Choo Charles is billed as a survival horror game set on a bleak, sparsely populated open-world island. All the inhabitants live in fear of Charles, except for you. You play a train operator who aims to destroy the demon train, a task easier said than done since all you have is a train engine armed with a machine gun. Charles is twice its size and significantly tougher, plus his spider legs let him walk around the island without any problems.

To kill Charles, you need to build up your engine to a true war machine. To do this, you need the help of villagers on the island since they can provide upgrades to your train in exchange for fulfilling quests. Also, you can gather up scrap metal scattered throughout the wilderness. You’ll be able to level up your train’s speed, armor, and weaponry. Once you’ve built up your train with enough firepower to match Charles, you need to fight the demon train to the death.

While your train provides some relative safety, it must stay on the tracks, which means you will have to do your scavenging on foot. Unfortunately, this gives Charles ample opportunity to ambush you. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of scampering back to your engine with a man-eating spider train hot on your heels.
